Dear Supporter of the Arts,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, please accept our deepest gratitude for your support in years past.  We are very grateful to you for your generous contributions to The Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden.

Our Annual Appeal provides the operating funds to keep our charming facility running and attend to its routine maintenance needs. During this unprecedented time, we need you more than ever in supporting our annual appeal.

The three resident groups, The Concord Players, The Concord Orchestra, and The Concord Band, were unable to deliver their full season of arts programming due to the Covid-19 shut down order last March.  In addition, Opera51 postponed its performance of Turandot to June 2021, and in all, we lost significant sums of revenue collected normally from ticket sales.   We incurred additional expenses to keep the building open and sanitized daily to adhere to the State’s Covid-19 safety guidelines for our resident groups who are currently using the building in small groups.

The safety and well-being of performers and audience members are our top priorities, and so we are exploring the installation of a fresh air ventilation system in the building which will be a major expense that we hope will be helped by a matching funds grant. We currently are installing UV-C wall units that emit ultra-violet light to disinfect room air above the performance and seating areas. Our goal is to safely open 51 Walden to our patrons for the 2021-2022 performance season, which starts next September. 

With your generous contribution to our Annual Appeal, we will continue to be able to fulfill the building’s joyous purpose, even during challenging times. At 51 Walden, community performing arts are rehearsed, performed and celebrated, and are a tangible component of the Town’s vibrant culture.
